The revolution will not be televised

... It will be radio-ised..... via Money Malc's radio show. But take note... the time changed. THURSDAY 8:00-10:00 aka NOW, MO' FUCKAS... one hour left of bangers. As usual, I am going to hand the commentary over to malc to accompany three tracks for your downloading pleasure (as are all songs on this biitch) that he will be playing tonight/now...

Take it away, Malc...

I'm in the library, knee-deep in one of the most pointless, ambiguous assignments I've ever been asked to do, elementary school and kindergarten included. I hope I can figure out what in the world I'm supposed to be writing about before I turn 20. The T-Wolves just completely choked in the fourth quarter against the Hawks, and this girl right next to me is watching youtube and stifling her laughter, which sounds like a chair squeaking or an excited mouse, both of which are more annoying than actual laughter. There is a party in my dorm (fewer than 50 yards from the library) happening as I type this so I really want to get out of here.

ONE.) This song is a collaboration between two new-ish, really talented artists. Sometimes I hear certain artists and I just think to myself: "You get it. You understand what people like to listen to. You understand what sounds good. You just made that sound far better than most people could ever hope to sound in their lifetime."

I think that Jay Electronica, J. Period, and Nneka understand the formula. This track is simple, hard-hitting, and as catchy as crabs. I can't get the chorus out of my head, not that that's something I would want. I think my mom would love this song.

Patrick: I also would just like to give a shout out to Jane Kerr.

Link: Walking (J.Period Remix) f. Jay Electronica- Nneka

TWO.) Objectiv One takes "This is How We Do It," strips it of the already-dope Slick Rick sample and redresses it with some silky smooth jazz. As a general rule, mixing one good ingredient with another good ingredient usually produces a great product. This is the same logic behind peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, boy bands, and thousand-island dressing. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner..

Patrick: This is a dope beat. I just can't seem to listen to jazz flute seriously after Anchorman though. Objective one did the Drake and Washed out mash up in a post earlyurrrr.

Link: This Is How We Do It (South Central Jazz Festival Mash Up) (Montell Jordan Vs. Hubert Laws)- Objektiv One

THREE.) The 50 Cent classic redone with acoustic steel drums. I think that steel drums are
arguably the coolest sounding instrument humans have ever invented. Prince of Ballard figured that out before I did though. Alright. I need to get back to work.

Patrick: Glad my blog could satisfy your procrastination needs, homeboy.

Link: PIMP (Prince of Ballard O.G. Edit)- 50 Cent

Listen to my show, read Thizzberg's blog and enjoy your thursday night.

3 tracks (to download) and 1 video (that you shouldn't watch)

So i'm studying for my journalism test mañana so i don't have time for an in depth post. HOWEVER, I thought I'd quick give you guys a legit link I found to download that Snoop/Cudi/Diplo song I posted last nigh. This song has def grown on me (since yesterday). The beat hits hard. Barely works with the chorus. To be banged this weekend (post test).

Link: That Tree ft. KiD CuDi- Snoop Dogg (Prod. by Diplo)

There's also this too I thought i'd post in case you didn't have it. The single from Nas and Damian Marley's collabo album, Distant Relatives, which is due to drop April 20th.

Link: As We Enter- Damian Marley & Nas

ONE MORE THING!!
I just found this today. Really feeling it. Baby I'm Yours is Breakbot's long-awaited debut EP on Ed Banger Records. This shit is smooth and hellaaaa catchy. He's French. Combining disco and electo, with a hot vocal hook.

Link: Baby I'm Yours (feat. Irfane)- Breakbot

Okay. Enjoy these tracks and have a good tuesday night. Mine will undoubtedly suck. Wish me luck.

I may owe you $7. But probably not.

Sooooooooo, my bad. Its been a while since a post. I don't know if anyone cared buut in case you do.. my excuse? Being home all weekend (where i saved the life of a very old black man) (ask me about it in person). And midterms (1 down 1 to go) (suck it, anthro). Let me compensate by hooking you up to the moon with some banguuurrrzzz i've just been waiting to unleash on you all.

If I was to make a  playlist of some of my favorite hip hop tracks from the past couple years... this is all it would include. Download every one of these songs (BY CLICKING ON THE TRACK NAME..... i dont think some people get that...). You'll thoroughly enjoy them. In fact, I owe you $7 if you don't like just one of em. My Top-7-hip-hop-songs-I-know-you'll-like-or-I-owe-you-$7.

1.) I don't know where I found this but.... this beat is absolutely insane. If you're sneaker head make this your anthem. If you think you can dance, challenge me to a dance battle. Been dancing to this joint for just toooo longgg homieee.... one of my all time go-to party songs fur surre. And as you can see, Barack approves as well..
I Got Colors- Que B.I.L.L.A.H. feat. The Cool Kids

2.) This was my favorite song for so so long. Just rebirthed it. Such a smooth sample. And those vocals in the chorus.... FORGET ABOUT ITT. But seriously. Forget about itt. this will make you feel so good in such a good way.
Still Water- The Pacifics
(sorry no free download, but click the link, its without doubt worth buying)
3.) You know Outkast. I'd be surprised if you know this song. But maybe you do. Love this beat. Big Boi's (who i've decided is one of my favorite MCs of all time) flow is just on pointt. An whoever sings that chorus. All day i dream about it...
ADIDAS All day I dream about sex- Outkast & Killer Mik

4.) Took me so long to track down a download link for this shiii. I think it originally aired on the Coach Carter soundtrack..? Shout out to Ashanti. Another Kanye song to make you nostalgic of the old ways.
Wouldn't You Like To Ride ft. Common, Kanye West- Malik Yusef

5.) I remember a minute ago the first time I heard Slick Rick's voice I thought it was a woman. It's just toooo smooth. Made so much smoother over this smoov ass beat. My go-to jam over winter break.
Street Talkin'- Slick Rick ft. Outkast

6.) Who's on the comeup? J. Cole is on the mo fucking comeup. It's been a while since I've heard some new shit drop that I was really feeling. Right when I was about to give up, this song blessed my ears. Don't know where he copped this beat but it is too freshhhh. Flow is riiiight. The homie Kid Kotilly told me to post some Cole. Post some Cole I shall, my friend.
World Is Empty- J. Cole

7.) The beat. Is to be played loudly. And when that bass line drops. Nuff said.
Can't Hold On- MED

Thought I'd post this too. Although not included in my top 7, it is fresh off the boat (you heard it here 1st!) (maybe..). The Diplo-produced cut will appear on Snoop’s upcoming offering “More Malice”, a deluxe version of his current longplayer “Malice N Wonderland”.. clever, snoop.. And is Cudi is becoming as much of a slut as Weezy? Vote now.

Who better to rap and sing about smoking california herbalescence than this duo?

Snoop Dogg feat. KiD CuDi- That Tree.

The Xx. RemiXxed.

I heard its really warm and springy in the twin cities today. Fuck that. The picture posted above is out of pure spite. Send some down to Madison. I've got so many man tanks (manks)(get familiar) just calling my name from my dresser. Thinking of warmth is habitual. Anyways, I promised myself I wouldnt post today because I have so much shit to do but i dont give no fuuckkk. So appreciate this.

The Xx. What do you know about The Xx. Get to know if you don't. I love them. Their dreamy back and forth female/male vocals and guitar are so good for cold solitary days like today. So twin cities kids feel free not to download, maybe I'll post some fucking Beach Boys for you guys. Here are my 2-Favorite-The-Xx-RemiXxes (Get it??!)

ONE.) Makes Biggie and Pac's lyrics hit so much harder. more  haunting. Download the original too. Realized last night that this song is also used in some Apollo Ono commercial.... sell-outsss...
>Intro- The Xx
>Runnin' With The Xx (Quix vs. Eliot Blend)-Biggie vs. Tupac vs. The Xx
Run from the police. Picture that. I'm too fat. Fuck around and get an asthma attack. That's why I bust back. It don't phase me...
      ---Favorite line in rap evuuurr.

TWO.) Really love this original song. I think that's why I loved and appreciated the Grandtheft remix so much. Vocals and guitar are so on. Download both to see how the game should be played
      >Crystalized- The Xx
          >Crystalized (Grandtheft Remix)- The Xx

Who looks more intimidating? Biggie and Pac (in a time of peace), Or the indie leather jacket wearing punks The Xx?? Vote now!

1 MORE THING... Been looking for an excuse to put this video up for a while. Don't see any better one than this post. Goes so fucking hardd..... even with the pink borderline... R.I.P.

99 problems but my radio show (still) ain't one...

Second edition. Ya boy from the hometown Money Malc goes on air tonight (8-10, 7-9 in the midwest) under his alias, DJ Dana-Sauce to supply you with the heat via Colby college in Maine. Here are 3 (of many) tracks he'll be flooding the airwaves with tonight for your downloading pleasure. If you forgot, get your ass to wmhb.org now and follow the online instructions to get hooked upp. If you want to make a request, or just to chat, call 207-859-5450.

Now, as usual, I'll hand the commentary over to Malc, with a word from me here and there:

ONE. Malc: My iTunes is kind of like a revolving door. Songs will come in, they'll get played, and for the time being it'll be amazing, until it's forgotten about, and relegated to the library. Once they're in the library, they'll probably stay there, never reaching playlist status. Some songs, however, have been on steady rotation since they were added. For me, this is one of those songs. Is it the beat? Is it the vocal sample in the background? The lyrics? The pre-jerk Kanye cameo? The stupid minute-long talking segment in the end? I honestly have no idea. But I don't think this track's failed to put me in a good mood since it made the internet-to-iTunes leap.
Patrick: That beat reminds me of something Kanye woud have rapped over on Dropout. Oh, nostalgia.

Reasons ft. Kanye West- Gly Gypsy- (The Vodka and Rum Mixtape)

TWO. Malc: Word on the street is that Big Boi is coming to Colby some time in the spring. I wanted to see if he was putting out any new singles so that I could sing along at the concert and I stumbled on this track. I can't even really put a genre on this track, but if this kind of music was a genre, it'd be my favorite. It's an amazing mix of hip-hop, swing and soul. 3 minutes in, her voice reminds me of a young Michael Jackson, right before the horns and ukulele kick in. That sentence alone should intrigue you enough to give this one a listen.
Patrick: I downloaded this a couple days ago off hypebeast but never listened to it long enough to hear the horns near the end. Fire. Good pick.
Tightrope- Janelle Monae ft. Big Boi

THREE. Malc: I think adding the Jose Gonzales guitar in the background makes The Games' rhymes sound way more.... potent. I love this one because I think it works so well. This isn't party music, but if you're getting amped up to go protest or to drive around through bad neighborhoods in your car, by all means, play this loudly.

Patrick: Goddamn, I've been banging this song off a mix Evan gave me last summer. Had no idea what it was besides The Game over a sick sample. DJ Dert flips this so well. MLK AND Left Eye both had a dream? If The Game says it's so. (Jose Gonzales pictured)

Dreams vs. Cross (The Game vs. Jose Gonzales)- DJ Dert- Sometimes I Rhyme Slow

          Late night disco sickness cough

I'm sick. I hurt. I'm plugged with so much tylenol and phlegm my head's about to explode. And I have a paper to write. I can't believe it's only 11. Thank god for these songs for keeping me up right now, downloaded most of them today. I thought I'd quickly share them with you if you're in any sort of similar situation... such a nice guy. Top 5 songs that are keeping me awake right now....

ONE. This shit is so hot. I wish Stevie and Lil' Wayne would collaborate on a song forreal..
Downtight (Chambaland Mashup)- Stevie Wonder vs. Jay Sean Feat. Lil' Wayne

TWO. Maybe don't listen to this while studying. The urge to shake your ass is almost overwhelming.
Raise Me Up- Hercules & Love Affair

THREE. If for some reason you don't know The Knife from Sweden you should get to know. Heartbeats (See the A-trak mash up with on the hip hop remixes post) was there big hit a couple years ago. I'm really feeling this track right now though.
          Pass This On- The Knife

And I actually just found this remake of Heartbeats I really like a lot. Maybe listen to it when you're trying to fall asleep though...
          Heartbeats- José González

FOUR. I'm going to have to use this in a movie one of these days. Where the fuck did this sample come from.
          Why Don't You- Gramophonedzie

FIVE. Catchyyyyyyyyy. Someone remind me to put a mash-up the hood internet did with caribou and zion I.
          Odessa- Caribou

......THEN listen to this when you're ready to fall asleep. One of my favorite songs ever. Listened to it every night in Honduras while trying to drown out the barks of emaciated dogs outside.

          Storm Returns- Prefuse 73

That took too long. I think I legit have ADD. Thank you, blog. And I apologize for this pic...

          Video Sundayyy Second Edishh

(Edition). Ok. First off. Happy Valentine's day. I'm not a big fan of it right now. But if you like it, I hope you have a happy one. These videos aren't that exciting. But neither is valentine's day. Second off. Trailor-Trash-Wedding themed party last night. Bawitdaba was a favorite. Fucking radd. Almost too radd. Made this video feel like an appropriate post the day after.

Ninjasonik's remix of Matt and Kim's song, Daylight. You kinda have to watch the whole thing. Here's the download link if you don't have the original song...
          Daylight- Matt and Kim

This is cool too. It'll blow yurr fuckingg miind braaahh. Jp. But seriously. I saw this originally as part of the British Advertising Awards.

Last but not least. I forgot about this shit from a couple years ago. Still so funny. I made the borderline pink and red for valentines day.

And lemme just post this song. I love this song. I could hear Common rapping over this. This whole album is gold i have it on vinyl too. A good Sunday afternoon song.
Runnin' Away- Sly & The Family Stone

          New management

So. First. Happy fucking Friday. Second. As some of you may have heard Brooklyn duo MGMT is coming out with their sophomore album, due to drop April 13th. It will be pretty hard to top their first album and judging by their new single Metanoia (which I just realized is almost 15 minutes long)... it's not looking promising. Haven't fully established an opinion. Definitely none of that signature MGMT poppy electronic hook or haunting vocals present. But you be the judge. I thought I'd use this post to put up some links to my Top-3-MGMT-remixes (God knows there are a million). The first one will blow your mind, Xaphoon Jones puts up probably the sickest mash-up i've ever heard. I love showing this to people for the first time when they think it's just Bob Marley. The second is by ya boy Justice who makes Electric Feel popppp with dat bass. And you've probably heard Chiddy Bang's chopped up beat our of Kids. But still fresssshhhhhh. Tell me if I missed one.

          NEW: Metanoia- MGMT
1.) I Wanna Know Now (Bob Marley, MGMT)- Xaphoon Jones
2.) Electric Feel (Justice Remix)- MGMT
3.) Kids (feat. MGMT)- Chiddy Bang

That Justice remix reminded me of one of the most insane music videos/pump up songs of all time. Still don't know if this is real.... Maybe give you some ideas for your Friday night... jp..

          Thursday, February 11, 2010

          Sloth is a sin...

But cha boy just too lazy to whip out a legit post today. AND I just got a new haircut holluUrRr. Let me just offer you with what you probably want: some mo' hypetastic remixes. The Wale one is fresh out the oven. And very hot. If you have a very good sound system download the Miike Snow's remix of The Reeling right away. The N.A.S.A. remix is sooo much tighter than the original, durrty durrty Ol' Dirty Bastard (immortalized on foot below). I know you were digging Night By Night by Chromeo posted in the dance tracks, here's probably the best remix i've heard of that track, pops off at the end... Oh and I want to post my favorite track (so fucking dope, even if you don't know the sample) off Illinoize (download here) (Sufjan Setevens samples + hip hop...) (shout out to annie D to putting me onto dis shiii) i'll call this my Top-5-Remixes- I-Post-When-I'm-Too-Lazy-To-Post-A-Legit-Post...

Bang these, put on those shades, and enjoy this sun while it's still out.

No particular order... just download them all...
1.) Good Girls (Andrew Clark + Quix Remix)- Wale
          2.)
The Reeling (Miike Snow Remix)- Passion Pit
          3.) Dumb I Sound / ATLiens (f. Outkast)- Tor/Sufjan Stevens
4.) Night By Night (The Tremulance Remix)- Chromeo
5.) Strange Enough ft. Ol' Dirty Bastard (Mr. Oizo Remix)- N.A.S.A.

Hip-hoppers beware... the next post is about to be hellaa indie, cuuuh.
Now I'm going to take a nap......... like Bizkit, the sleepwalking dog.

          Wednesday, February 10, 2010

          Gaye, as in happy.

The epitome of cool. And sexy. Marvin Gaye, made almost cooler and sexier with these remix/mashups. Beatnick & K-Salaam did the first. Probably my favorite remix ever... just wait for that beat to drop. The Outkast mashup kills it as well. Pretty much more music to make you popular at parties.... without further ado i give you my Top-Marvin-Gaye-Remixes......... IN ORDER this time..

          1.)
Whats Going On (Beatnick & K-Salaam Remix)- Marvin Gaye

2.)So Fresh So Clean (B.Cause Let's Get it On Reprise)- Outkast & Marvin Gaye
          3.)
Let's Get It On (Da Producers MPG Groove Mix)- Marvin Gaye
4.) Heard It Through The Grapevine (Xaphoon Jones Remix)
5.) Blue Magic- Jay-Z and Marvin Gaye (off Brooklyn Soul)

And I'll leave you with the freshest and cleanest rendition i've ever heard...

99 problems but my radio show ain't one...

The b.f.f.f. 4 LyFeE, Malcolm Kerr aka Money Malc aka DJ Dana Sauce if you weren't aware is holding it down for the radio world with his show way over at his college Colby, in Maine called "Pop Lock and Drop It". Predominantly hip hop, more specifically mash-ups and remixes. You can tune in every Tuesday night at 8-10 Eastern time, or 7-9 in the durrty midwest. Go to wmhb.org now and follow the online instructions to get hooked up with some qual tuneage. If you want to make a request, or just to chat, which he loves to do, call 207-859-5450. You can also IM him during the show using the meebo application on the home page of the wmhb website. Or text him. Sexting is also welcome.

CHECK THE BLOG FOR A PREVIEW OF ALL THE BANGERS TO BE BANGED EVERY TUESDAY ON THE SHOW LATER... For your downloading pleasure.

I'll hand the commentary to the Malc man himself to break these tracks down...

ONE.) Anyone born around the early 90's should feel nostalgic when they hear this song for two reasons. One: this entire mixtape, the Ocarina of Rhyme, was put together using samples from the Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, arguably the best game ever (also possibly the reason I was wearing glasses by 6th grade). Hearing this song for the first time made my day, I hope it has a similar warm fuzzy feeling for you all...
Slim Thug & Mike Jones - Still Tippin' (Great Fairy's Fountain)- Team Teamwork

TWO.) Cookin' Soul released a mixtape, the Red Album, which featured remixes of the Black Album, Jay-Z's epic "farewell" to the rap game, as well as remixes of some music by the Game. The mixtape cover features a photo-shopped head, half of it belonging to the Game, and half of it belonging to Jay-Z. With the Game's enormous button nose and Jay's crater nostrils, it kind of looks like a character from Pan's Labyrinth. The track's self-explanatory though, the beat's so amazing it even makes Jay's song about racial profiling seem like a total blast.
99 Problems- Cookin Soul x Don Cannon

          THREE.)
Mashed up by Tom Caruana. An incredible track from an incredible mixtape, available for free download at getrightmusic.com. I think it's a good deal better than your average mash-up, as the tracks sound more like remixes than the clear-cut, artist A over artist B's beat mash-ups. The whole mixtape is nuts, but this is my favorite track. Tom does a good job balancing the two songs. I only wish I had a car in Maine, if only to drive around listening to this on a sunny day. (There's also another track posted from this mixtape featured on Pat's top hip hop remixes below ft. Ghost)

Mighty Healthy- Wu Tang Vs The Beatles

Shout outs are plentiful. Listeners are greatly appreciated; doing the show is at least 15 times more fun if I know people are listening. So instead of dicking around on facebook on a Tuesday night, spend the night (over the radio) with me. And read Patrick's blog often.
          All the best,
          -Malcolm

          Eargasm...

Funk. Soul. R&B. Sex. Fire. Bass. Pimps. Vinyl. Horns. Gold. Some words that come to mind. This is the best music posted yet. These are some under the ground hits mostly from the early seventies (before the onset of the electronic) that no music library should be without. I guarantee if you have any sort of taste in music you'll be banging these tracks for the next month. My Top-10-Songs-That-Will-Make-Your-Earwax-Melt..... no partic order...

1.) Play this very loud. Close your eyes. Listen to that smooth ass guitar (and horns eventually). Drums. Listen to those smooth ass harmonized vocals. Undress. Okay.
          Brothers On The Slide- Cymande

2.) I originally got this on vinyl. What a fucking find. I think it's been sampled by quite a few. But none as good as the original. Strings. Feel the knife in your back and that note he hits at 42 seconds. Okay.
          Backstabbers- The O'Jays

3.) I played this song for a minute not knowing what the hell it was. Came from some random mix that evan got. Luckily some girl on my floor had Shazam on her iPhone so I could put a name to it. One of my top played on my iTunes. Wait till the beat drops 45 seconds in... You should proooobably have sex to this...
          Oh Honey- Delegation

4.) This guitar hook will be in your head for days. No matter what mood you're in this will make you happy... in a really smooth way... especially after those horns come in... R.I.P Isaac
Hung Up On My Baby- Isaac Hayes

5/6.) As much as i'd like to take credit for discovering these, leave it up to Peanut Butter Wolf to scoop em up and put them on a couple of his great mix cds. Ernie & The Top Notes' vocals makes you want to get naked. The chorus in the Pure Essence song will make you want to run away.. in a really good way..does that make sense?
Things Could Be Better- Ernie & The Top Notes
          Third Rock- Pure Essence

7.) This next one i have to give props to Witt over at WACTAC for hooking me up with. I have no idea where you found this but as you can tell by the pic, Darondo ran shit in bay area in the 70's.
          Darondo- Didn't I

8/9/10.) Hip Hop samples. I'm sorry but so much hotter in their original state of excellence. Alchemist flips William Bell's guitar riff for Dilated Peoples song Worst Comes to Worst. Jay-Z used this Little Beaver sample in his American Gangster song Party Life. This is easily one of my favorite songs ever. The only song you should ever play at a party.
I Forgot To Be Your Lover- William Bell
Get Into The Party Life- Little Beaver

And last but not least, Willie Hutch's seventies anthem: I Choose You. Immediately recognizable as the sample from International Players Anthem. Hutch made this song for the 1973 film The Mack based in Oakland (of course). A scene of which is posted below...
          I Choose You- Willie Hutch

          I quote:
"We can settle this like you got some class, or we can get into some gangster shit..."

p.s. Let me also quote Berhe when he took that 10$ bet against the Saints with me "easiest 10 bucks i've ever made." Cam.

          Video Sunday

Mighta just made up a new tradition... I present you the 1st edition of Video Sunday. Thought i'd post some videos for your viewing pleasure while you put off shit to do until the game. Looking forward to copping my $10 from Berhe's ass when the Saints take it. It's just fate, homeboy.

1.) I really appreciate this. Anytime I need to tell kids about my high school, how Central (Centro) (Rentro) got down, in a lot of ways this pretty much sums it up... I def recognize both these kids. And Joshé's screaming... Listen for how it gets broken up in the end. I love how this shit has 10 times more views than any video i've ever made...

2.) I've wasted my time watching a lot of shitty failblog videos, and i feel kinda lame posting one of these but trust me when i say this one's gold... I think the best part of this is how you can hear the dude filming, holding back laughter immediately after it looks like his friend might have just died..

3.) It's kinda depressing to think how much time this probably took and how little i appreciate it. Still so dope.

parkour motion reel from saggyarmpit on Vimeo.

4.) I also just wanted to post this. Last night I was at a party and took my turn as being the DJ for a little. First I played Marvin's Heard It Through The Grapevine. What can I say, everyone was feeling it. Theenn I thought I might try my luck with the 5th grade jam, Smooth, by Santana and Rob Thomas. Holy shit. I have never seen a collective buzz get killed faster. Anything the party had going was murdered by that opening guitar riff. Not one person in there had any love for Carlos. I quickly ran away from the computer and hid in the kitchen...

          CHILL BRAH CHIILL

Whatchuknow about chillwave, chillgaze, chillhouse, post electro, hypnagogic pop, chillagenic-honey-bunches-of-chill..... whatever the fuck you want to call it, here's the best of the best. It got big over the summer, hella synths/ low tempo loops you might already be down as a frown with this shit but i feel no blog would be complete without it. And it reminds me of summer which is well needed right now. Here's my top-8(like MySpace?)-so-fucking-chill(wave)-bands/the only ones i really know (by the way, none of these lists are in any special order)

1.) NEON INDIAN. They've probably gotten the biggest by far. You've probably heard the catchy Deadbeat Summer track but here's a couple more too.

2.) WASHED OUT. Deemed the "new neon indian" on the blogosphere (lame i know) I def like them more i think than neon indian and their album covers. Here's a drake mash-up i came across recently with one of their songs. pretttyyyy dopee i must admit.
3.) MEMORY TAPES. Better than Neon Indian AND Washed Out. I might go as far as to say this track is MY FAVORITE SONG OF 2009. Yeah. I said it. This shit POPS OFF at 1:19. Then again at the end with the key change and guitar. Boner.

4.) BEACH HOUSE. These guys rock. This shit gives you goosebumps. I reallyy like music like that affects my skin in such a way....

5.) CASIOKIDS. I think these guys are Finnish...? (like sonja) BUT it turns out they're Norwegian (thanks Ingi). Same thing though... It took me a minute to find this shit when it first came out. Not really stereotip chillwave but I really love this song. And you will too. Makes me happyyyyyy...
6.) ATLAS SOUND. The singer from this group is the same dude from Deer Hunter. Noah Lennox featured from the Animal Collective. Cool. Thanks for the correction soph...Whaddayaknoww. Really catchy synth loop on Walkabout. Thumbs up.

7.) TORO Y MOI. This shit's real cute. Catchy little number. I think Blessa is their bigger song but I like the other song bettah.

8.) KID ROCK. This song is totally what i listen to whan i just really wanna chillaxxxxx.

And that's all folks. That's ray charles to the right. Because this genre might be sorta associated with smoking ganjj i'll leave you with this....

          LADIEEEEZZZ

Let's keep this going. Catch up and then allow me to introduce my Top-5-Tracks-by-Female-MCs .... And these fucking bang.

1.) WHY DID THIS SONG NEVER BLOW UP?? Who the hell is Ms. Dynamite? I've never played this track for someone when they haven't fell in loveee. Even Nas spits a verse say whaaaa...
          Dy-Na-Mi-Tee (ft. Nas)- Ms. Dynamite

2.) Kid Sister.. so hottt. Does she still date A-Trak? Now that's a match made in heaven. This beat is on fucking point. Let it bang out until the chopped and screwed outro. This is by far my favorite track of her's. The Chi's finest (thank you Gabriel).

3.) Speech Debelle comes to us from South East London. Her accent almost makes me melt as much as this horn and drum sample do. Enjoy.

4.) South African-born, New York-bred rapper Jean Grae has been clappin' back on tracks for the past 10 years or so. This beat pops offffff. i quote: "Raps dead, rap sucks"

5.) Terry Lynn goes as hard on your ears as the Kingston sun goes on yo' skinnn. But seriously wait 40 seconds and Johan Hugo's beat kicks it into high gear. I think the photo on top posted speaks for itself...

Now go have a merry Thursty Thirsdayy.

How do you say "flashback" in spanish...

This kid looks exactly like my little fat 5 year old host brother, Angél Gabrielito from when i was in Honduras. This just had to be put up. I think I got this originally from Kevin Horn (God bless you). Try to ignore the child porn in the background...

          ...Fuck, wait, these too

These probs don't deserve their own post but they're just a few more from that last list. Sorry to be such an indecisive bro. Logarhythmik gave us these a while back. The Bank Sale remixes of The Bake Sale from your favorite rap duo, The Cool Kids. And then the japanese production phenom, Nujabes, with Nas' One Love Remix (hello, junior year).
1.)What It Is (Time To Wake Up)- The Cool Kids
2.)Time Of Action (Not Panic)- The Cool Kids
          3.) One Love Remix- Nujabes

          REMIX THA BANGUURZZ

Okay. So as I said, I'm going to come out pretty hard with these first posts. So catch up. I'm secure as the next guy but let's face it that last post was a little well, feminine. Let's see what I can hook up for my hip hop heads with my current Top-10-HipHopAndYouDon'tStop-Remixes... (I'll do my top mash-ups later).

1.) These days i could spit and itd probably fall on a new Cudi single. I personally think the dude fell off a little but as you'll see, his remixes sure as hell haven't. No, this isn't the fucking Crookers remix. This might be my favorite song right now straight up and will make you really popular if you play it for friends. I recommend playing it and not telling people what it is until they hear the verse and then they're like daaaaayyyuuuum...
*Wait until you hear the saxophone sample in the chorus... and get a hard on...

2.) Beatnick & K-Salaam the duo from New York remixed Common's album, Be a while ago. I think this is the best song off there. More from these dudes later...

3.) I've been banging these for a minute buuut, they just have to be included. A-trak remix of the hood anthem... Wamp Wamp (making it definitely less hood... but still tight). And then again remixing (technically a mash up) Kanye's Get Em High (remember when kanye was good?) and the swedish band, The Knife's hit, Heartbeats.

4.) Let me stick with the clipse theme for a second with Z.A.K.'s remix (Malc turned me on to this one too) of Mr. Me Too. THESE HORNS BANG...I'll post the sample too which I recognized a couple weeks ago when I heard that guitar loop.

5.) When it comes to mash up albums DJ Swindle did it upppp. This shit's pretty old news but it had to be on this list. Ma boy Malc turned me onto this last summer: Bobb Deep= Bob Marley+Mobb Deep (all from the timeless The Infamous). Fuck it I'll just post a few. Sorry i'm too lazy to match the song names off the infamous album. Evan and Berhe will probably get on me about not just recognizing them but i don't give no fuckk..
          DJ Swindle 1- Bobb Deep
          DJ Swindle 2- Bobb Deep
          DJ Swindle 3- Bobb Deep

6.) Meant to put this with the dance songs in my last post but lucky for you it counts as a hiphop remix too. It's kinda old so you may have hear it but it's just such a banger...

7.) I never thought I'd see the day when I'd see Flying Lotus would do a Weezy F remix for A Milli but shiiiiii, it's hot. I also never thought I'd see the day when someone as white as Charley Stewart could rap any one of Wayne's verses, from any song, flawlessly. Lotus also does one for I Feel Like Dying.. but it sucks almost as much as the original (sorry, Chuck).

8.) You may know all about Rye Rye, MIA's little protege to hit the scene last summer (props to Megan G for turning me on... to the song) but you might not know this remix. Sean Bronze does up an originally pretty weak beat by MIA's DJ, Black Star.

9). AmpLive, OG producer from the Yay Area (O-Town more specifically) chopped the shit out of Radiohead's historic album In Rainbows to make the Rainydayz Remixes. You may have heard of that mashup album "Jaydiohead"... this shit's way better.
Nudez (ft. Too $hort & MC Zumbi of Zion-I)- AmpLive
Video Tapez (ft. Del the Funky Homosapien)- AmpLive

10). This one I found a couple days ago and had to send it over to ma boyee Evan G right away for that sample... so good..With ghostface's song- Save Me Dear (Funny, The Hood Internet also mashed this one up with a Beirut song)
Save Me Dear (Ghostface Killah x She and Him)- Tom Garuana

11). Cheated. Forgot no top ten hip hop remix album would be complete without the Ratatat remixes. This song off the original album Roc La Familia suckedd by the way.
Glock Nines- Beanie Sigel Feat. Jay-Z

Okay this should tide you over for a while. I'll probs think of like 10 more after i post this but whatevuurr.
          Hallelujah Hollabakk.

          dancedancedancedancedancedance dance

Thought I'd start this thing off right with my current Top-Ten-Songs-to-Dance-Alone-In-Your-Dorm-to.....
...Or at parties of course. Everyone knows it's not a party without dancing.

Let it first just be said that the bee gees would be all over this list if i wasn't too afraid to get sued. AND Prince. AND the theme song from space jam. okay. let's begin...

1.) This one is definitely part of my nightly dance workout mixes that you can really work up a sweat to. I try to get my roommate Ben involved every night with no avail...

2.) Me and my little brother def danced our asses off one morning during break to this song in our underwear. Sorry to call you out, Joey.

3.) These guys played a free show at the Union last friday. And by 'these guys' I mean it turned out being just some DJ spinning their tracks but everyone was still dancing like kRaZeE so it was aightt. Kind of an old song but still groove-worthy. Vocals.

4.) This is a new one from Crookers ft. my french love interest, Yelle (i imagine her to be pretty hot). This shit's good but if you added some Swizz Beats hood "HEY"s on the upbeat it would bang so much harder.

5.) This one from the band Pyramid (formerly known as Starfucker, which in my opinion is totally a better name). My mom thinks his voice is really annoying but I'll let you be the judge.

6.) This song was soooo much tighter before I heard it was on one of those Urban Outfitters samplers. It's not like a total dance your head off song but i can still get down with that guitar hook for suuure.

7.) I'm pretty sure Mountain Dew's Green Label sound just picked this dude up (along with solid gold) which is pretty weak but this song is still dope. The video is kinda wack but he's def on the comeup. This song is really fun to do like an awkward-trying-to-be-sexy-hipster-girl-dance to... if you have any idea of what i'm talking about.

8.) Best dance song of the year. Period. Fucking love Chromeo. But who doesn't? There's a sick remix of this song i'll probably put up in the next post too. If you haven't seen this music video it's, well, inspiring... and sexy... I think I'll just have to put it up at the end of this post.

9.) I would have put up If I Ever Feel Better by Phoenix right here but I feel like everyone already knows it. Instead I'm going to probably have to put the most borderline techno song I have up here. Yet some rapper could easily get off over this hook. By far the tightest techno (I'll have to ask Zane Hill for the specific sub-genre) I've heard in a minute... RAGEEE!!!
10.) I just fucking love this song. One of those late 70's funk bands who actually knew what they were doing with an electric keyboard. Classic.

Now go, dance the night away... GUCCI!!
