Spring=Sprung

Pretty great weekend huh? Yeeaaah. Sorry no posts. But this one will surely supplement...

Sooo word on the street is that March is the new April and vitamin D is the new crack rock. Warm weather just blind sided this campus and suddenly schoolwork has taken the backseat to things like sunglasses, shorts and of course, the mank (did i say mank?) Yeaaah. Not too humid- right before my hair takes jew-fro status.
Fellow northern-state-inhabitants this is the time where we realize why we deal with 4 months of cold weather: pure appreciation of 60° weather. Holllaaa. Love the sweat. Hate the laundry.

Anyways, before you go outside next, honor me with supplying you a soundtrack with my Top-5-60°-weather-Sunsoaked-[NEW] Indie-Jams..... if that made sense. All so so so so good (:

1.) Each time I listen to this song it blows ma' mind. Maybe your mind will also find itself blown. My favorite song in a while. Note the name of the band.... Okay.
Link: Real Life- Tanlines

2.)  I don't know how much you've fucked with the new Gorillaz album but let me just give this the "best track sticker". Argue that the track Stylo is better all you want but this is just a quality, catchy, feel good 60° in the sun banger.
>Link: Melancholy Hill- Gorillaz

3.) Really been feeling this track too (arguably chillwave...) and obviously The Hood Internet was too when they supplied you with this sick little mash up (they also supplied the pic...)
>Link: Deli- Delorean
>Link: Blowin' Money At The Deli (Drake x Birdman x Delorean)- The Hood Internet

4.) If you still don't know what chill wave is read the old post. There is not genre that sounds better under the sun than this. And Toro y Moi supply us with a new sunsoaked hit that I love and you should to. The video posted below should give you things to look forward to in the warmer times to come...
>Link: Talamak- Toro y Moi

5.) Aaaand I really like this one. And its title pretty much speaks for itself. And it's a cute little numbah. The band itself is like this mystery band from Brooklyn and their getting a lot of hype for it. But for good reason. DO WHAT THE SONG SAYS...

......OKAY FINE AND ONE IF YOU'RE JUST IN TOO MUCH OF A HIPPUR-HOPPUR MOOD...

A little new Coolio Remix with a little P-Funk type sample... I listened to this before a midterm today... pretty sure I aced it...
>Link: 1,2,3,4 (Sumpin' New) (Timber Mix)- Coolio

Also-- I just copped 2 new promising-looking mixtapes, I'll post some tracks mañana...

AND I'M GOING BACK OUTSIDEE... RJD2 SHOW TONIGHT, GET AT ME IF YOU'RE GOING HOKAYYY

"Twin Cities Biddy"

Two posts in one day..? Suddenly very necessary... I just got the scoop from the source and one of my best friends def hooked up with GZA from the legendary Wu-Tang last night. Pointed out in the crowd, brought up on stage, and the rest is history. Damn. Cam. Speechless. You're only 7 members away from the whole clan. Jp but let's be honest here, if there was one wu-tang member who would be most legit to hook up with it's my man GZA.

Let me just quote: "I want you to be ma' Twin Cities Biddy." --GZA

Props, babe. Let me just dedicate these two stellar GZA jams to you (for everyone to download and enjoy):

>Link: Lyrical Swords ft. Ghostface Killah- GZA
>The Drop I Hold (ft. GZA) (Afghan Raiders Remix)- Black Lips

^I was looking for the right post to put this song (bangs supah hard) in but i never would have imagined just how appropriate it would be...

Yes.

How the mighty have fallen...

Fuuckk yes yes yes yes. Zane succeeded at finding what I was scouring the cyber world for and failed to find. Originally seen on Malc's Found Footage Festival video (full of gold), this is for anyone who had no clue who the late Corey Haim was. This will surely engrave his spirit in your memory. This is also where the many "chukka brah" adaptations originated... R.I.P.

And with that, have an amazing Friday night. More quality tunes coming soon.

AND WE BACK LIKE COOKED CRACKK

You're lucky I had some free time. Because this is a fucking loadedd post. But I think you can handle it. Ready go!

First:
It's about that time o the week. Where Malc supplies us with a couple bangers to download as a preview of his show THURSDAY NIGHTS 8-10 eastern (7-9 central). You can stream it at wmhb.org, and you can hit me up on facebook or text me for a shout out/request.

TRACK-ONE:
MALC: Exactly one minute in, this track goes nuts. The synths come in, then some cool
"waooo" sounds. I have no idea who this Emeli Sande character is, but I think Wiley
goes hard on this track
.
Link: Never Be Your Woman (Solo (UK) Loves Garage Remix)-Wiley ft Emeli Sandè

PATRICK: Fucking Wiley. Malc, tell me you remember this track from a while ago too. This shit was huge across the pond. What is the status on this scene right now? LONG LIVE LONDON GRIMEE!!!
Link: Wearing My Rolex- Wiley

TRACK-DOS:
MALC: This song is so older than old. Like late 60's old. But it's just in time for the good weather. I was going to post a new Redman single, but let's be honest, I'd rather kick it with Cliff than Redman.
Link: Love Is All Right- Cliff Nobles

PATRICK: Great pickk. This shit reminds me of this song. I think I first heard it via some random Iowa radio station en limbo to visit Grinell College last year with Tristan and Malcolm. Goddamnn we blew that place wiide open...
Link: When A Man Loves A Woman- Percy Sledge

Thanks, Malc. TUNE IN TOMORROW NIGHT MO FUCKAS...

Okay.
ALSO. BREAKING NEWS....

REPORT 1:
Guess who's back back againn? T.I. is back... (tell a friend) This track just dropped. And I must admit, I am a fan. This shit goes harrd. Some of that grimey-21z-T.I.P-sounding shiii. Might have to start the weekend early just to bang this one in the right atmosphere...
Link: I'm Back [Prod. By TrackSlayerz]- T.I.

REPORT 2:
MORE NEW MGMT dropped another new single from their upcoming album: Congratulations. (I put up another track from this album on an earlier post). At first, I really wasn't feeling it. None of that classic catchy poppy kinda MGMT shit present but there are glimpses. As I've played it more It's sort of grown on me... better than the other one.... but, you be the judge..
Link: Flash Delirium- MGMT

 ALSO...
New remix  by Subsector that I actually like of that Cudi and Snoop song That Tree, that I posted in an earlier post...

AND WE OUT. REMEMBER....
YOU HEARD IT HERE FUUURSST!

Love, Patrick.
p.s.
.... I feel really good about that post. Let me dedicate it to the late Corey Haim. RIP. Okay.

Mash Up Monday........

This is going to be a quickie because I have a grip of shit to do. A better post will follow tomorrow lo prometo (I promise).

I came upon these mash ups on over the weekend. Kinda fun.

ACTUALLY, FUCK MASH UPS AND REMIXES, DESPITE THEIR FLASH APPEAL I AM GETTING SICK OF THEM AND DONT LIKE THE IDEA THAT EVERYONE THINKS THAT'S ALL I LISTEN TO.......

But these are kinda fun. And the alliteration of a Mash Up Monday was too tempting. So enjoy the mash ups while you can because i am vetoing them on here for the rest of the week (that includes you, Malcolm) then i think i am going to come back strong with my favorite hood internet tracks. Someone remind me.

Pretty self-explanatory.....
1.) Link: Fireflies Goin Down (Yung Joc vs. Owl City)- The White Panda
2.) Link: What You Know About Little Secrets (The White Panda Mash-Up)- T.I. vs. Passion Pit

And a non- mash up...

The hip hop world is all a buzz about this dude Laws who has a new mixtape out, 4:57, put out by Don Cannon (THE THE CANNON!!).

Despite all the dope producers that seem to have flocked to this dude (for some unknown reason) (aka 9th Wonder, Calvin Harris, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League), i wasn't really feeling his raps or any of the tracks except this one...

$1 to anyone who can figure out who this vocalist is.. This shit is actually pretty dope and you'll probably like it. Okay.

3.) Link: Run Away  (Produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. LEAGUE) - Laws

Actually, this one's okay too. And Calvin Harris is actually on it? Anyone heard his new album?

4.) Link: Colors (I Don't Care) - Featuring Calvin Harris (Produced by Calvin Harris)- Laws

FUCK THIS SHIIII THE BEST IS YET TO COMEEEEE....

Good Morning

Here's a few remixes to makke that sun out today shine even brighterrrr heeeeyyyy. and make the snow melt even faster? By far the prettiest day of the year yet. Download these. Then get the fuck outside.

1.) After Miike Snow remixed one of PB & J's tracks (i'll post later) they returned the favor with their remix of Animal. Which I actually prefer over the original?
Link: Animal (Peter Bjorn and John Remix)- Miike Snow

2.) Heard this original on the radio recently and remembered this remix. Starts out kinda weak but the beat eventually makes this track hit so much harder.
Link: Use Somebody (DJ Slink Mix)- Kings of Leon

3.) I fucking love the Fleet Foxes. And never had I ever heard anyone even try and touch them with a remix. But this one is just amazing to be honest. Pops off. DIS SHIIT BLEW MA MIIIND. I'll post the original version too (amazing in a very different way). If you don't know it, listen to it first and get a good appreciation before moving on to the remix. So worth it. Thank Callie for requesting I post it. But, still, fuck winter.
Link: White Winter Hymnal- Fleet Foxes
Link: White Winter Hymnal (The Twelves Remix)- Fleet Foxes

4.) This is kinda tight. Sounds like to the original up until this kRaZ3E b3At DrOpS (what if i wrote everything like that.. hmm..) But seriously, run to this beat. Didn't my man 9th Wonder produce this original beat..? So hot still.
Link: Flashing Lights (High Contrast Remix)- Kanye West

5.) AAAND... if Saturday night ever rolls around (which seems so far away right now..) Play this.
Link: Loonies To Blow- A-Trak x Drake x Birdman

Speaking of kanye....

 And speaking of birdman.....

10 Deep Getting Deeper + Øya Festival

10 deep. Hate them. Or, love them. Are expanding their netwurrk of media channels to reach and engage you in different ways (studying for my journalism mass communications midterm)

Clothing. Hip Hop. Skating etc.. All that good shiiiii

Recently stumbled upon this skate montage thats purrdy ill. I'll admit I'm kinda off that whole streetwear tip but those hats these dudes are rockin are purrdy fresshh. More imagery to make you giddy for some warm weather...

The music is by DONNIS the rapper who 10 deep sponsored in putting out a mixtape earlier in the year. The 2 songs featured are actually the only two i liked off it. The former more so than the latter but i'll let you decide.

Exclusive made inclusive

FIRST OFF: I MISS SUMMER AND WARM WEATHER QUIT TEASING AND COME TO ME NOW TO ENJOY MORE STUFF LIKE THIS:

(on the set of Disco's Dead 2009)

Okay.
Last weekend I was in tha minneap enjoying some time with ma gurl, ma bro and ma dawgggz. Zane was nice enough to give me some hospitality (+much more) saturday night. While we were pregaming in his room with Connor I played a few songs he liked and wanted, and I am sure you will like and want them too..... To: Zane From: Patrick. As I promised.

ONE: You might have this. This is that shit that was sampled for that shitty Ayo Technology song. So much better in the orig form with this girl's vocals.
>Link: Courtship Dating- Crystal Castles

TWO & THREE: The next 2 tracks I got off some Disco mixtape on some blog a while ago. Both had a spot on the playlist I was banging in the whip (i miss driving..) when I was home.

Crystal castles' synth make this one popp offf. Haven't heard this original song but i love this guy's voice >Link: Lovers who uncover- The Crystal Castles

>Link:Triangle Walks (Rex The Dog remix radio edit)

ALSO...

Molface killah exclusive... These are a couple tracks I made like a year ago, both more or less unfinished. I asked Zane to hit them up with a bass line. So bare witness to a before and after of sorts...

>Link: Trinidad Tobago- M.F.K. (props to Megan G for giving me the record I chopped this sample from)

>Link: Play dem keys- M.F.K.

Maybe I'll post a couple more if this goes well. No pressure zaneerrr..

Video Sunday 3.

And by Sunday I mean Monday. My apologies, I had a shot break down for film class that took about 8 hours longer than I thought it would. I'm running on like 5 horas of sleep and not really in the mood for anything too comical. Even if your mood doesnt match though i think you'll enjoy these.

I saw this a while ago but the second one got put up relatively recently. Specifically the first one but both blew my mind. They are extracts from "Women Are Heroes" project by the french street artist extraordinaire JR-- part of a full film coming out later this year. Both thought provoking and worth watching if you have some time.
